We are excited to announce Coach Darius Kelly as our new Saguaro Sabercats Head Football Coach! Coach Kelly served on the Sabercats 6A State Championship staff last year assisting with defensive backs and wide receivers.
A former Buena High School team captain and Pima Community College standout, Darius went on to play football as a scholarship athlete at Syracuse University where he played in all games as a junior and started all 12 games as a senior.
His first coaching experience was back home at his alma mater with his former Head Coach, Joseph Thomas, at Buena High School. Next, Coach Kelly was hired at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH coaching the Hawks defensive backs under Joe Adam. After coaching collegiately, Coach Kelly returned back home to Tucson to accept the position as Varsity Head Coach at Catalina Foothills High School where he coached for 2 years. Before arriving at Saguaro, he spent one year coaching the Sidewinders Football College Association in Tucson.
Darius has a passion for football and developing players to excel on and off the field. We look forward to having his elite leadership and guidance for our student-athletes in our state championship football program and know he will make an immediate and long-lasting positive impact in our school and community. GO CATS!
